Pride Mentoring

Mahanoy Area Junior/Senior High School students participated in numerous activities that incorporated teamwork and recognized diversity. In the beginning of the school year all the students paired into small groups and worked together on a building exercise which was making a tower as high as possible with the use of index cards and tape. Before Christmas break the whole high school watched "The Greatest Showman" which showcased diversity within individuals. We later filled out a graphic organizer listing our differences such as religion, where we lived, the activities we participate in, etc. In February the leaders of the Pride Mentoring program presented facts about opiod addiction and explained addiction according to brain chemistry.

Schuylkill Women In Crisis

During the month of December, members of FBLA collected gifts for the families apart of SWIC. Each grade or person was given a child to buy gifts for, and the mothers received a basket of products. After all the gifts were wrapped and placed together they were delivered to the facility the week before Christmas.

Haunted Hallways/Safe Trick or Treat

After school, in the Elementary School gymnasium students and their parents were allowed to come in and trick-or-treat in a safe environment. During Haunted Hallways anyone who payed a dollar or donated a canned good was able to walk through the high school and be scared by their fellow classmates.
