The weather report called for a likely chance of rain and wind out in town of Wingate, PA on the evening of November 13th as the Blue Mountain Girls’ soccer team traveled to play in the Semi-final game of the season. What the meteorologist missed was it would be raining Hershey Kisses for the Lady Eagles that evening as the BMHS Girls secured a place in the State Finals to be played in Hershey, PA. As families and fans spread the news of the win, the excitement erupted throughout the community. The members of the Blue Mountain Youth Summit alerted the students who then gathered late in the evening to welcome the teams’ buses back to the high school. This being Blue Mountain’s first ever State Finalist team, the district was placed on a half-day schedule to ensure fans and families could support the BM Lady Eagles. Fan buses were organized, and all students and faculty lined the school hallways and cheered in support as the team traveled out to the game. The Hershey stadium was filled with EAGLE Pride. The Lady Eagles brought our school district and community together to share in the momentous occasion. Families, fans, former players, and future players alike cheered as local fire companies took to the streets to honor the efforts of BMHS Lady Eagles. Blue Mountain History was made, and our school district and community were united with pride over this first time ever accomplishment.
