Youth Summit Contributor: Hailey Neifert
The Schuylkill Haven Area High School Youth Summit and Hurricane Heroes Club hosted the 1st annual Schuylkill Haven Trunk or Treat. The event was held on October 24, 2018 from 6-8p.m. in the Schuylkill Haven High School parking lot.
Students worked together to collect candy donations, gather sponsors, and obtain trunks for the event. They spent hours designing, creating, and setting up their club trunks. Students volunteered their own time to set up, hand out candy, and clean-up on the night of Trunk or Treat.
In the end, we had over 35 businesses, clubs, and individuals set up trunks and many more make candy and monetary donations. We had free music for the night, donated by a local D.J., Ashley Farr took photographs of all the students, and various trunks had games and prizes for children to win.
The community turned out in droves to help support the school and show how students like us can make a difference in our community. We are definitely looking forward to a even bigger turn out next year.
